Welcome to "Joshua's Minions'" Team Page!!
Joshua's Minions
"Joshua's Minions" will be walking on September 1 to benefit the Friendship Circle. Read on for a little bit about why "minions" and what makes Friendship Circle so special!
Usually, when we think of "minions" an image of subservient underlings comes to mind. In fact, as the minions pictured with Joshua demonstrated, they are much more than that... They are loyal, supportive and work together to achieve common goals (well, usually!)
Our group of minions - inspired by Joshua - are driven in the same way... We are working towards a common goal of helping kids with their own individual challenges and obstacles to enjoy and benefit from incredible programs... that foster inclusion, help to develop skills that might otherwise be lacking, and that are FUN!
In our short time in Michigan, we have come to truly appreciate the great work Friendship Circle does for kids like Joshua. A year ago the idea of him getting involved in sports programs with other kids was almost unthinkable. Throughout the past year, he joined in basketball and hockey programs, developing some basic skills and - more importantly - an appreciation for the teamwork and the games themselves. Each week he had fun and was excited to share his accomplishments!
Friendship Circle does more than just programming for special-needs children - it focuses on the family, as well. Rose joined in a "sibs night" program every other week where she made friends and had lots of fun with siblings of other special-needs kids. As she gets older, we can easily see this group of new friends having particular importance for her.
We greatly appreciate your support of Friendship Circle, and would love to welcome you to our special team of "minions" - come and walk with us!!!
